On 21st August the community of Broken Hill and visitors to town flocked to the Broken Hill Racecourse for the Outback Astronomy site of the Australian World Record Attempt. Over 50 sites across the country came together to attempt the world record for most people stargazing across multiple sites in a country. Early reports are that the existing record was smashed on the night. In Broken Hill over 220 people officially ‘gazed’ while many more assisted with the event.
