Australian feature film, Last Cab to Darwin is set to screen in the Silver City at a special Patton Village fundraiser on 16th July,
Not only will locals get to see a host of Broken Hill locations and extras in the film, but the screening will also be attended by Writer/Director Jeremy Sims and the star of the film, legendary Aussie actor, Michael Caton who will be holding Q&A session after the film.
‘Last Cab’ is based on the true story of local Broken Hill taxi driver, Max Bell who drove to Darwin to try and take advantage of the euthanasia laws in the early 1990s.
Many local locations and extras feature in the film alongside Caton and his co-stars including Jacki Weaver, and this will be a great opportunity for punters to see the film in the town where it all began, at this special advance screening.
If you need another reason to head out for a great night at the movies, thanks to John Wren at the Silver City Cinema, the event will also be a fundraiser for the Patton Village Community & Business Association
The story, adapted for the Big Screen from a successful play written by Reg Cribb, follows the story of ‘Rex’, a cab driver who has never left Broken Hill in his life. When he discovers he doesn’t have long to live, he decides to drive through the heart of the country to Darwin, where he’s heard he will be able to die on his own terms; but along the way he discovers that before you can end your life you’ve got to live it, and to live it you’ve got to learn to share it…
